Rebecca Berkley
Rebecca is an Associate Professor in Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of Reading. Her scholarship focuses on classroom musicianship, musical cognition and choral education, and she teaches music education on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is a doctoral supervisor. Rebecca is an experienced choral conductor working with adult, youth and children's' choirs, including Welsh National Opera Community choirs, Slough Philharmonic Society, Kennet Opera, and Berkshire Maestros. She is the director of Universal Voices, a free community choir for children at the University of Reading which she runs with a volunteer team of students who learn to conduct by working with the choir. Universal Voices perform regularly around Reading, working with different community groups to bring an excellent choral education to any child in Reading. She is also in demand as a speaker and musicianship tutor, and is currently working with Music Mark, the Association of British Choral Directors, the Music Teachers' Association and the British Kodaly Academy.
